Design + Peace
Design+Peace is an architectural non-profit organization addressing pressing environmental and societal issues with a focus on research, education, collaboration, and innovation.
01 — 04
Design+Peace was founded by creative minds who believe in the power of design and interdisciplinary collaboration to solve social, economic, environmental problems. Our approach is centered on the belief that design can be a powerful tool for positive change, and that interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement are essential to creating sustainable solutions.
Design+Peace seeks to establish a multidisciplinary network that connects those who share our commitment to promoting positive social and environmental change through research, dialogue, and collaboration. We provide a platform for everyone who wishes to be a part of positive change, a space for knowledge exchange and collaboration, where people from diverse backgrounds can work together.
We bring together professionals, scholars, advocates, volunteers, students, and communities from around the globe to work on solutions to real-world problems.
02 — 04
In addition to our humanitarian projects, we organize a range of events, including research projects, public programs, and most notably, student workshops. These workshops provide a platform for young people to share their fresh ideas and perspectives, reflecting the zeitgeist of our time. Our education process provides a unique opportunity to learn from industry-leading professionals and gain hands-on experience in humanitarian work.
We believe that it is essential to empower young designers and architects with the necessary training and skillset to utilize design-thinking as a tool to identify, deconstruct, and solve complex problems. Our mission is to make this vision a reality through our workshop programs to create meaningful and sustainable change.
Through our "Learn - Design - Build" approach, we aim to provide participants with the tools and skills they need to tackle contemporary issues in areas such as health, education, disaster response, and equality. This approach involves a focus on design-thinking and community-building, with an emphasis on hands-on learning and collaboration.
We aim our participants to:
LEARN
The "Learn" phase focuses on providing necessary training and education to the participants, particularly young designers and architects, to become competent in utilizing design as a tool to identify, deconstruct, and solve complex problems.
Design + Peace works with partners, professionals, and academicians to create an inspiring research and design process implementing innovative decision-making strategies, and production methods.
DESIGN
The "Design" phase involves a collective activity and exchange between students, professors, the master team, experts, partners, and non-governmental organizations. The focus is put on the production of knowledge and producing applicable solutions concerning location, setting, and resources.
An interdisciplinary team of academicians and practicing professionals lead the workshops and lecture series, provide design briefings, training, and guidance to the participating students.
BUILD
Finally, the "Build" phase aims to realize the solutions developed in the previous phases, with a focus on creating viable, fine, locally rooted, tech-supported design that renders innovative-yet-grounded solutions.
All projects are expected to meet minimum requirements, and the participants will witness the transformation from an idea to a tangible product, in collaboration with experts providing support on local regulations and technical details.
We believe in the power of design and creativity to effect positive social change and peaceful coexistence through collective work.
